The upper floor is use both as a family space and as a work area. The space is functionally divided and the overall look is airy and bright. This look is emphasized by the use of while-painted walls and ceilings in combination with light floors, thus creating the impression of a larger space.
Generally, Scandinavian design does not prominently feature great deal of printed motifs, however, feathers are now trending in nordic-inspired decor. This doesn’t mean you have to start draping feather boas around your house. The trend features the motif in carved relief as well as a in restrained prints that have a natural feel. It’s the opposite of the over-the-top Jungalow style that features abundant leaf prints. Instead, a few carefully designed, detailed feathers are the accents on a pillow, print or other accessory.
The living room is also a dining room and it’s very large and airy. It has white walls and oak parquet flooring. The living room is also connected to the balcony that can be used as an extra room during warm months. The bedroom has large windows overlooking the courtyard and it’s spacious enough to accommodate a double bed and an office, reading corner or workspace. Overall, this is a vintage-modern apartment, very cozy and inviting.
Light is important in this case in the sense that it fills the main living areas and gives them a bright and open appearance but also in the sense that it can be filtered and regulated using folding walls and dividers in order to change the layout of the space and to provide different levels of privacy. It’s also important to mention here that the social areas are in fact multi-functional spaces.
