One of the hallmarks of a modern bathroom is a sense of minimalism, and one of the best ways to achieve that during a renovation on any budget is by using a sleek floating vanity.
You know whether your bathroom facilities are adequate or not. But there are other questions you need to ask yourself as you continue your inspection tour. Is there an electrical outlet in the bathroom and, if so, is it a ground-fault interrupter (GFI) receptacle? This is a safety device that functions as a second fuse and will, in the event of a fault in the ground, shut off power to the outlet and prevent electrical shock. They’re recognizable by their small, rectangular reset buttons located between the plug receptacles.
As mentioned, modern bathrooms tend to use a minimalist approach, without ornate details like elaborate mirror frames. A simple frameless mirror looks perfectly elegant in a modern space, especially when it runs wall to wall or, as I often specify in my design projects, inset into the surrounding tile to create a flush surface.
You don’t have to incorporate every shade of the monochromatic rainbow. It’s possible to focus on creating an ultra-clean white space or to experiment with various hues of gray. Just mix up the space with a few different prints and patterns to keep the room from seeming too one-note.
