In addition to furs we are also seeing lots of leather, suede and even metallic leather. The metallic hues are bringing traditional leathers into a whole new light, giving the contemporary image an even more modern edge. The metallic hues also add a touch of glamour and sophistication. Concurrently, lace is making a grand comeback. We saw it first on the runways and we’re seeing it again in the shelter magazines. It’s time to dust off your grandmother’s heirloom table cloth. What’s old is new again!
Something all designers seem to agree on, as does Boodro, is that metals are big at the moment and that brass is “the metal of the moment.” We are seeing brass everywhere from small fixtures, to lighting to furnishings. Brass, and all hand finished metals bring a luxurious, clean, rich and sturdy look to your space.
Despite the use of raw materials and a clear inclination toward conserving tradition, the interior reflects modern design. Minimalist furniture and an open-plan living and dining area hint toward contemporary living. In the kitchen, the cupboard guards the stairs that lead the way to the second floor.
Exterior of the house is coated in glass, allowing light and fresh air inside. “Shutters clad with sawn timber battens adds a balance of texture to the rendered and glass façades. Black stone floors used throughout living spaces with carbonised oak flooring and timber detail to compliment the stone. Simple and elegant bathrooms that combine matt white with additional use of the black stone.” The striking simple design as well as the serenity encompassing the house played a key elements in completing this wonderful, uncluttered home.
